This work depicts slavery in the state of Maryland. The images on the walls are slave maps from Baltimore County circa 1853. They show the location and names of farms and plantations that owned slaves.
On the floor is a sales receipt from an auction, the heading of the page reads "Negroes Sold" then proceeds to list the names of sold slaves in the lefthand column and the prices sold for in the right column.
